Handicrafts, professions and books
Vapula appears as a lion with gryphon’s wings. The great duke makes people knowledgeable in handicrafts and professions, philosophy and other sciences. He governs thirty-six legions; Naphula is an alternative name. [1]
Scot’s list speaks of handicrafts, philosophy and sciences contained in books. Elsewhere his Marbas passage glosses mechanical arts as handicrafts, giving a useful link between two notices of skilled making. The word professions belongs to Vapula’s later list. [1][2][3]
