Callogaeana festiva is the combination retained in the 2025 treatment. The species belongs to Cicadidae. [1]
The identified orange reference form has dark forewings interrupted by pale bands and orange hindwings with dark borders. [3]
Distant’s historical account describes greenish-ochre forewings and blue-green hindwings, including forms with expanded dark areas. [2]
Distant reported material under Gaeana festiva from Sikkim, Darjeeling, Sumatra and Ambon, with a dark variant from Assam south of the Brahmaputra. [2]
Distant’s historical variants included expanded dark wing areas and a pale longitudinal pronotal band, documenting substantial pattern variation in material he assigned to Gaeana festiva. [2]
The Mizoram voucher was collected beside a forest track under a Schima tree. The site was cultivated secondary forest surrounded by primary forest. [5]
The identified reference photograph exposes the pale forewing bands, orange basal hindwing fields and dark outer borders in a complete adult view. [3]
Patterned forewings contrast with broader hindwing colour fields. The positions of the major markings give each colour treatment its structure.
Keep the enclosure closed and display it in indirect light, away from heat and damp conditions. Handle the frame by its edges and clean only its exterior according to the maker’s instructions.
What is Gaeana festiva? It is a historical combination of the name now treated as Callogaeana festiva. [2][1]
Where is the modern Indian voucher from? Voucher MZMU2409 was collected near Hualtu, Mizoram, on 14 June 2021. [5]
Distant’s monograph records historical descriptions and localities. The 2025 study supplies the current combination; labelled photographs and the Mizoram field paper document modern adults and collecting contexts. [2][1][3][5]
