Choose a bright indoor position. Protect the blades from intense midday sunshine, particularly after moving the pot from a dimmer room. [3]
Moderate to warm rooms and ordinary low indoor humidity suit snake plants. Avoid cold draughts and direct heat from radiators. [4]
Feed during active growth at the product label rate; pause when growth slows. [6]
Prefer rooted offsets or division for a variegated snake plant. Leaf-section cuttings often produce green young plants. [3]
Lift the clump gently. Find an offset with roots, then separate its connection with a clean blade while keeping roots attached. Pot it individually at the same depth. [8]
Return the division to suitable snake-plant light and resume watering by moisture checks. [4]
Leave healthy blades intact. Remove badly damaged leaves at their base, wearing gloves to avoid irritating sap. [3]

During slower, darker-season growth, a snake plant can remain dry much longer. Check for shrivelling and substrate dryness rather than repeating a summer routine. [4]
