Place Exotica in bright filtered light, with shade from hot direct sun. [6]
Feel the upper mix before watering. Let the top 1–2 inches / about 2.5–5cm dry between waterings, while checking moisture deeper in the pot. [16]
Wet the root ball thoroughly, let excess water escape and empty the saucer or cover pot. [7]
Reduce watering outside active growth, checking moisture before each watering. [6]
During active growth, apply a balanced liquid houseplant fertilizer monthly, following the product directions. [6]
Pinch back stem tips to encourage a tidy, fuller vine. [5]
Yellowing can accompany excess water, while curled leaves can accompany too little. [5]
Protect the foliage from hot direct sun. [6]
Exotica Satin Pothos is toxic to cats and dogs. ASPCA also lists Scindapsus pictus as toxic to horses, due to insoluble calcium oxalates. [11]
Chewing can cause mouth pain or swelling, drooling and difficulty swallowing. Keep plants, fallen leaves and cuttings beyond pets that chew. [11]
For suspected ingestion, promptly contact your veterinarian or ASPCA Poison Control at 888-426-4435. Provide the botanical name. [12]
Scindapsus pictus is harmful if eaten and can irritate skin and eyes. Keep it beyond young children and wear gloves when handling. [6][13]
For human ingestion in the United States, call Poison Control at 1-800-222-1222. Elsewhere, contact your local poison service. Call emergency services for breathing difficulty, seizures, collapse or inability to awaken. [14]
