Keep the plant frost-protected. Ordinary indoor growing temperatures are a practical choice; do not use a winter hardiness limit as a daily growing target. [7]
Dry household air generally suits this succulent approach. Ventilation and appropriate root moisture are more useful than a closed humid cover. [5]
Waterlogged roots may lose function. [14]
Long drought can damage roots as well as foliage. [16]
Gradual exposure changes reduce scorch risk.
In winter’s lower light, reduce watering and keep the plant bright. Resume more frequent moisture checks with renewed growth, and acclimate again before a summer move. [6]
Keep leaves and cuttings out of mouths. Use this plant for display rather than food or household remedies. [10]
Keep plant material away from chewing pets. An ornamental label is not a guarantee of harmless ingestion. [13]
Human poisoning (U.S.): 1-800-222-1222. Medical emergencies: 911. [11]
Pet poisoning: veterinarian; ASPCA 888-426-4435 (consultation fee). [12]
